Old Rhinebeck,NY Airshow - July 22, 2007 : This was the Griffiith family's very first airshow of any kind and it was great fun. Bit of a long drive from the NYC Metro area, but well worth the trip.

The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome has airshows & there are four museum buildings displaying aircraft, vehicles, and memorabilia from the Pioneer Era, World War I and the Lindbergh/Barnstorming era.

The weekend air shows run from mid-June through mid-October.

Anyone interested in the earlier days of powered flight will love this place. I certainly did !!!

The demonstration consisted of the following Marine helicopters: an AH-1W Cobra, a UH-1N and 2 CH-46E Sea Knights, respectively, performing an area sweep of the landing zone.
Once the helicopters performed the sweep, Marines exited the helicopter and secured the landing zone by positioning themselves on the boundaries of the perimeter and sighting in with their weapons in case of any potential danger.
After the demonstration, the helicopters landed and were available for public display along with the weapons typically used by a Marine Corps rifle platoon.
A restored UH-34D Seahorse helicopter provided by Marine Helicopter Squadron 361 Veteran’s Association, Inc., was also displayed. It is the same type of aircraft as was used for combat rescue in Vietnam operations and during the Cuban Missile Crisis before it was replaced by the CH-46E.
Marines supporting the event were part of a Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force from 2nd Battalion, 10th Marines, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
